Here's the result of a performance I've been mulling over for a long time (too long, really; I won't admit how long). I was at last prompted to execute it in response to an invitation to participate in a group show, The Fourth Wall (conceived and curated by Helen Braund), at Australian National University in Canberra in July.

Participants were asked to create pieces that examine performance and performative actions and how they translate into photography and video, where “the body features as a performative tool, with the camera as the observer," and "the image becomes the fourth wall, the mediation between the spectator and the performer.” This is the first time I've presented documentation of performance as a work in and of itself, not simply as reference material for a painting...though in the long run, it will certainly fulfill that function, too.

Two recently finished pieces, quite small:

Mill, 6x9 inches, acrylic on panel

Bramble, 5x7 inches, acrylic on panel

They're likely to find homes with my AU kickstarter backers, though they'll first appear in an exhibition next month.

I've been fully absorbed in trip planning, lately (hence the dearth of posts). To that end, I'm going to link to my online fundraiser. If you'd like to pledge, you can go there; if you're interested in the video, feel free to check it out below! It's sort of an experiment for me all on its own.

Soon I hope to be back with some images of recently-competed works and some other updates. Thanks for swinging by, in the meantime!
